How Your Hair Collection can be a Springboard for your Hairdressing Career.
It doesn’t get much bigger than being featured on the cover of Hairdressers Journal UK. Thats exactly what Morgan Richards from Toni&Guy McMahnons Point did with her Hair Expo, New Creative Force finalist collection.

Collection shoots are a big investment, understand your end game for your images and maximise your return on your investment.
Competitions are obviously great exposure for the hair artist, and to become a finalist or obviously a win can be a game changer in your career. Being strategic with your competition collections will see you get much more ‘Bang for Buck.’ For example, some competitions, like Australian Hair Fashion Awards, are exclusive unseen work. Others like Hair Expo Awards, can be the same collection with a different back drop etc. Talk to your photographer on how this can be shot at the same time. This will give you 2 collections for the one investment. Don’t rule out international competitions such as the Canadian Contessa Awards. Morgan’s shoot has been nominated for international stylist of the year. With a bit of pre planning and understanding of the rules for each completion, this can be achieved.
But there are so many other opportunities to use your collection shots as a springboard for personal exposure.
There are literally hundreds of online and print magazines that are thirsty for content. Your photographer will have a list, or check out our friends at Hair Shots to The World is a convenient way to reach hundreds of publications.
Education is another great opportunity for you to use your collection work. With that in mind, its important your collection represents your style and flare.
