CREEP – Hair Collection from Lani Caslake
It’s exciting to realise the talent of some our our young hair apprentices. Lani from Flipped Hair certainly didn’t disappoint with this amazing shoot placing her as a finalist for Apprentice of the Year.

Dark and demented, all bound by child-like wonder, CREEP takes you on a spectacular ride through the eclectic, the surreal and the downright macabre.
A visually stunning ode to Tim Burton and his eccentric yet endearing misfits, each CREEP character was created with their own uniquely whimsical style. Like the gothic meets suburbia juxtapositions the masterful Burton creates, CREEP explores deeply contrasting dark and bright lighting, atypical camera angles and a set that showcases a Burtonesque world of darkness curbing the pastel-coloured bungalows of a Stepford society.
These two distinctive styles, celebrated as one unique and striking amalgamation further inspires CREEP’s make-up style—the steampunk gothic heroine meets the pale ingénue, both flaunting their Edwardian (Scissorhands, of course) styled nails.
But it’s the hair that brings each of these disturbed deviant’s stories together. The unkempt yet structural mohawk, the graceful inelegance of a woman come undone and the modern twist of American kitsch up the front, 19th century European art in the back, this fascinating mélange is designed to give the sense of walking through an abandoned amusement park, a haunted carnival or anywhere your favourite nightmares will allow.

Lani wasn’t really wasn’t sure what direction she wanted to take her collection. In our first meeting, she told us that she was really inspired by the creative works of Tim Burton. She came back to our second meeting with a mood that described what she was feeling. This was a great help for us, and we were able to communicate to the team exactly what was going on in her head.
It’s no surprise that she called her collection ‘CREEP’.
